Stopping was achieved via single disc. petal disc with a dual-piston caliper in the front and a single disc. petal disc with single-piston caliper in the rear. The front suspension was a 33mm telescopic fork while the rear was equipped with a uni-trak linkage system and single shock with 5-way preload adjustability. The KLX140 was fitted with a 1.5 Gallon (5.68 Liters) fuel tank. The bike weighed just 194.01 pounds (88.0 Kg). The wheelbase was 49.61 inches (1260 mm) long.

The 2012 MY Kawasaki KLX140 comes in two versions, the standard KLX140, addressed mainly to younger riders, and the KLX140L, with its 19" front and 16" rear wheels, which addresses larger and a little more experienced riders.

When it comes to dirt bikes, the KLX140 may be considered one of the best options available, small and nimble, but also still packing some juice thanks to its 144 cc air-cooled, single-cylinder engine. The electric start via the handlebar-mounted button also enhances the appeal and ease of use of this small motorcycle.

The 33mm telescopic fork and the rear UNI-TRAK linkage system and single shock with 5-way preload adjustability mean it can tackle almost any type of terrain.

The 2013 Kawasaki KLX140L provides an alternative to riders who tend to outgrow the base model. That is, fellows with a longer inseam might find the KLX140 a tad too small for them, and here's where the L-suffixed model comes in handy. Bigger wheels provide better terrainability and a different stance, while allowing these riders to remain in the same displacement class.

Aside for larger, 19" front and 16" rear, wheels and a reservoir-type shock developed to improve performance and addressed especially to more experienced riders, it is the same as the KLX140.

The 2013 MY Kawasaki KLX140 comes with a bundle of features to help it cope with modern-day tracks.

The 144cc single-cylinder engine is paired to a close-ratio transmission for optimum power delivery. The progressive manual clutch helps even inexperienced riders master gear shifting and clutch engagement. The front 220mm petal disc and large-bore 27 mm twin-piston caliper, which are usually found on larger bikes, make braking precise and easy to master.

33mm telescopic fork and an Uni-Trak rear linkage with a 5-way preload adjustability mean it can tackle the every type of track and trail available out there.

The 2014 MY Kawasaki KLX140 is a great choice for a small displacement off-roader. It sports a 144cc air-cooled single-cylinder packed with modern Kawasaki technology in it, to ensure a fun ride throughout the trail.

The close-ratio 5-speed transmission with a progressive manual clutch transfer the optimum amount of the engine's power to the wheel and in the same time may help more inexperienced riders get used to gear shifting and clutch engagement.

A big 220 mm front petal disc, the same size as those found in the KX540F/250F, ensure a strong and easy-to-control braking, whether on a woodland dirt track or on a gravel-track.

The two-wheeler has a keyless electric start system, via a handlebar-mounted button.

Another feature worth mentioning on this model is the 220mm front petal disc and large-bore 27mm twin-piston caliper, which can be found on its larger siblings, the KX450F and KX250F. This makes the bike more easy to control.

The KLX 140G is powered by a 144cc, 4-Stroke, air-cooled, SOHC (OHC), single cylinder engine. With a cylinder bore of 2.28 in and stroke of 2.14 in, its motor is oversquare, meaning that the cylinder bore (width) is greater than the stroke (length). This makes the engine more powerful than one of similar displacement with a smaller bore. Electronic ignition makes starting your bike a breeze and ensures a consistent throttle response.
