My KTM origins are obvious, the skinny flanks, narrow seat and low-rise Magura fat-bar handlebars are there because the 950 Adventure is a bike with genuine off-road roots, and therefore genuine off-road potential. This KTM 950 Adventure S comes with a V-twin cylinder, four-stroke, DOHC engine. "S" is for sporty. The longer suspension travel and the 35-mm higher seat make the 950 Adventure S a sportier version of the companion model, the 950 Adventure. Born directly out of rally sport machines and made with the best high quality components, the 950 Adventure S has already proved its worth in any number of rallies.

The 2003 KTM 950 Adventure comes with ABS which is reassuring on the road and, thankfully, with a button, dispensable off it. The carb-fed KTM 950 Adventure is absolutely spot-on, with a smooth, effortless and nigh-on endless supply of easy power. The 990 Adventure, on the other hand, takes the injected engine from the barking KTM 990 Super Duke. In this guise, though, the 990 Adventure somewhat sensitive and snatchy at around-town speeds or when trying to tickle along at a constant speed.
