A voltage regulator is an electrical regulator designed to automatically maintain a constant voltage level from the electricity produced by the generator. It prevents excess voltage from harming sensitive electronics.
Modern motorcycles have a Regulator Rectifier that combines the functions of a voltage regulator with a rectifier.
