The bike has a 6-Speed transmission. Power was moderated via the Wet multi-plate.
Chassis[edit | edit source]
It came with a 110/70-17 front tire and a 130/70-17 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via Single 310mm Disc 4 Piston Caliper in the front and a Single 250mm Disc 2 Piston Caliper in the rear. The front suspension was a Telescopic Oil Damped Spring Preload Adjustable while the rear was equipped with a Link Type 7-way Adjustable Preload. The wheelbase was 55.51 inches (1410 mm) long.

The GS 500F is powered by an air-cooled, 487 cc, DOHC, four-valve parallel twin with 34mm Mikuni carbs and a slick-shifting six-speed transmission. This Suzuki, with a 55.5-inch wheelbase and a perimeter-style steel-tube frame with sporty geometry, is fitted with competent suspension and brakes.
