The Honda CR480R is a motorcycle produced by Honda from 1982 to 1983.
Intro
This bike replaced the 1981 Honda CR450R and was replaced with the 1984 Honda CR500
This bike is considered to be from the "post-vintage" era of historic motocross and is eligible to run in the AHRMA Ultima and similar classes for bikes with drum brakes, air-cooled engines and linkage suspension. It has the kick starter on the left side of the bike.
1982
The CR480R-82 was sold in 1982 without the "Elsinore" designation. Again the color was Tahitian Red. The number plate panels were yellow. The seat was black with a white "480R" graphic. The engine which produced 51 HP was a 472cc 2-stroke air-cooled reed valve single cylinder linked to a 4-speed transmission. The serial number began JH2PE020*CC100019. Front suspension was 43mm Kayaba (KYB) with 3-position adjustable compression damping.
1983
The CR480R-83 was sold in 1983 in Flash Red. The seat was blue with a white "CR" graphic. The "480R" swingarm decal was black. The rear section of the frame was detachable. The number plate panels were yellow. The engine which produced 51 HP was a 472cc 2-stroke air-cooled reed valve single cylinder linked to a 5-speed transmission. The serial number began JH2PE020*DC100018. Front suspension was 43mm Showas with 15-position adjustable compression damping.
