The bike has a 5-speed manual transmission. Power was moderated via the Wet, multiplate.  

==Chassis==
It came with a 20  x 7R-10 front [[tire]] and a 18 x 10R-9 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via Dual 182 mm discs with inverted twin-piston calipers in the front and a 198 mm rotor with single piston [[caliper]] in the rear. The front suspension was a  R-Type forged aluminum Double A-arm KYB8 HPG piggyback shocks with compression, rebound and preload adjustments while the rear was equipped with a R-Type cast aluminum swingarm Chromoly hollow rear axle KYB8 HPG piggyback shock with compression, rebound and preload adjustments. The wheelbase was 50.0 inches (1270 mm) long.

The 2008 Can-Am DS 450 X MX is ready to let you shine on the motocross track: it builds on the proven reliability of the base DS 450 version, but adds some nifty extras which make it way better and more enjoyable for the sporty rider.

The XMX brings adjustable camber and caster for the front, racing-specced KYB suspensions, width -adjustable hollow rear axle, aluminium nerf bars,  tapered handlebars, black aluminium rims and many more features to make the ATV look and perform better. And adding in the special graphics makes the 2008 Can-Am DS 450 X MX look as good as it rides.
